Golden State Warriors: Andrew Wiggins’ consistency
It is not a stretch to say last season was the most productive one of Andrew Wiggins’ career. Although his scoring output was slightly down from previous years — he was more efficient and conducive to winning than ever before.
Long seen as a player with no motor or willingness to improve, a change of scenery in the Bay has brought the best out of the former No. 1 overall pick. He still does not have the fire or alpha mentality of a superstar but he has grown comfortable in his role with the Warriors and become everything they need on the wing.
Wiggins has no problem defending the opposing team’s best player. And, he contested more perimeter shots than anyone else on the Dubs. He’s using his athleticism and length to impact the game and the Warriors are loving him for it.
Even better, Wiggins shot the lights out of the basketball. Finally able to act as a secondary scorer rather than the main option — Wiggins connected on 38.0 percent of his 3-point attempts and shot 47.7 percent from the floor overall.
The ability to be a 3-and-D threat is something Wiggins has only flashed throughout his career, with last season being somewhat of an anomaly. Continuing to be the unsung hero will be key for Wiggins and the Dubs.
