As they enter a new season, the Golden State Warriors are going to be in an interesting situation. They have young players that are capable of taking their game to the next level, but they could also use a third star.
Most fans have been closely monitoring the Ben Simmons situation to see if anything will arise from the three-time All-Star guard wanting out of Philadelphia. It doesn’t appear that the Warriors have any interest given Daryl Morey’s lofty valuation on him.
The Golden State Warriors have a team that should contend for a championship, but they’ll need a few of their young players to take big jumps this season.
That could leave the Warriors needing huge seasons from Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. However, it’ll take more than just the Big 3 this time around. Veterans and prospects alike will need to step up in a big way.
Having had three lottery picks in the last two drafts, the Warriors undoubtedly will have the pieces to see who can that leap. It’s a jump that could improve their shots at contending for a title, especially if said jump can help fill a vacant role on the roster.
Following a season in which they missed the playoffs after losing to the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament, the Warriors will have higher expectations, and they may only reach them if these three make their respective jumps into stardom.
