Golden State Warriors: Pros/Cons of signing a guard or center
By Tony Pesta
The Golden State Warriors are taking their final roster spot seriously. As they should. With training camp approaching it is crucial they get it right and bring in a veteran player who can aid them in what is shaping up to be one of the most unique seasons in league history.
There have not been many teams to successfully do what Golden State is attempting. Prolonged success is rare in a meritocracy. Longevity can only be accomplished through constant growth and of course, being more talented than everyone else for an extended period of time.
The core is still strong. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will do their usual thing even with questions surrounding Klay’s health. And, the supporting cast is better than it has been in recent years with Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Kevon Looney and Nemanja Bjelica all set to fill their roles.
However, things get dicey with other members of the young core. Two incoming lottery picks in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody will make this season interesting while James Wiseman’s sophomore season might be a complete wild card.
The Golden State Warriors have a number of options on the table for their final roster spot. Should they sign a guard or a center?
With this being said, the final roster spot could end up being crucial. Yet, there seems to be no decision as to whether or not the Warriors want a guard or a big man. Today, we break down the benefits and downsides of both.
