Golden State Warriors’ Jordan Poole breakout star comparison: Caris LeVert

Caris LeVert was the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and was part of a young roster that included now-Cavaliers center, Jarrett Allen.

While those two are no longer part of the roster, that group was certainly impactful in building a winning culture, one that ended with the franchise signing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. During his stint with the Nets, LeVert proved that he could score at a high level.

He averaged 8.2 points per game in his rookie season then boosted that 12.1 his second season. Those are eerily similar to Poole. His third season, prior to his breakout fourth season, LeVert averaged 13.7 points per game.

LeVert has quite the scoring packet, one that’s helped by his 6-foot-10 wingspan.

That size allowed him to be more efficient from the start, shooting 45 percent from the field. LeVert used three-point shooting to take his game to the next level, totaling over 17 per game in his fourth season. He knocked down 1.8 threes per game, up from 1.2 his third season.

Poole’s slight takeaway from LeVert’s improvements is to focus on his ability to shoot from deep and use that as another weapon to also aid in getting to the rim.
