Golden State Warriors player most likely to relapse: Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry was great because he had to be. If he didn’t average over 30 points per game, the Warriors weren’t going to be even in playoff contention. We saw that in the first half of the season.

Hopefully, that’s not the same dynamic this time around. For starters, around Christmas time, he’ll be getting five-time All-Star Klay Thompson back. Secondly, there’s hope that Poole could take a step into stardom.

The Warriors also snagged a handful of reasonably talented playmakers. Iguodala and Porter Jr. should help take the load off of Curry. At the same time, returning Lee, who missed the last few weeks of the season, should also help.

On top of all that, Curry just being a normal superstar would still likely be regression. He put up the most points per game in the NBA. He was playing at a career-high level. He’s only topped 30 points per game twice in his career.

Now, 33, Curry shouldn’t be asked to play over 34 minutes per game. If he isn’t asked to do that and doesn’t have to single-handedly carry the team, his numbers should slip.
