Golden State Warriors player that can step up: Otto Porter Jr.

The 6-foot-8 forward was originally a top-three pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He was supposed to be a rare combination of size, athleticism, and shooting, but Porter Jr. really never figured out how to put it all together.

He saved his career by becoming an elite three-point shooter, averaging over 40 percent on his attempts from deep. At his best, Porter Jr. notched 14.7 points per game and shot 44 percent from downtown.

Those are impressive numbers for the veteran forward, and with the looks he’ll get in Golden State’s offense, he should be able to get back to that level.

If he can shoot over 40 percent from deep consistently, he’ll easily help fill the void left by Wiggins. They’ll need a bit more playmaking and defending out of him, but he’ll have the opportunity to prove he can be that elite option that scouts knew he could be.

Opening up about 30-35 minutes per game if he’s out, Wiggins’ minutes could certainly be, in part, replaced by Porter Jr.
