It has been a rough and divisive few days for fans of the Golden State Warriors. Thankfully, in just a few months, we will have something to truly rejoice for. Klay Thompson is gearing up for his return.

Thompson has not played a professional basketball game since June 13, 2019. At the time of this post, that means it has been 838 days since the Splash Brothers were on the floor at the same time.

The Golden State Warriors can expect Klay Thompson this season but not until he is fully ready to return to the court.

As eager as we all are to see Klay play again — it is important everyone waits until he is fully ready. Right now, Thompson says he is roughly at 80 percent in his recovery process.

All in all, 80 percent ain’t bad. Thompson is scheduled to return around Christmas time, giving plenty of room for him to finish his rehab and be well on his way to an explosive debut for the Warriors.

His return to the floor will be iconic. A moment we have been waiting far too long for. And, it could not come at a better time with the franchise hanging between two drastically different destinies. Their future will be reliant upon Klay’s health moving forward.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Thompson will be the ones who ultimately decide if the Warriors enter another string of championship runs or not. While the supporting cast will play an incredibly important role — none of it will be possible if one of the big three is unable to compete.

This puts immense pressure on getting it right with Thompson. The Dubs can not afford to rush him back and cause further injury. We must be patient and allow enough time for Thompson to return at his own pace. Hopefully, it comes sooner rather than later.
