The Golden State Warriors need to find a third star, and one is both available and wanting out of his current situation. The question is at what price.

Over the last couple of weeks, the NBA has been on fire, mainly because of Ben Simmons. He’s not reporting to training camp, and he doesn’t want to meet with teammates to help repair the relationship there.

The Golden State Warriors are one of the teams often being to Ben Simmons, but the price has been too high. What if Stephen Curry was on the table?

The Philadelphia 76ers may be stuck trying to find a suitor for him, especially as president of basketball operation Daryl Morey continues to try to mend the ties.

If that doesn’t happen, the price is going to have to drop for the three-time All-Star guard. Four first-round picks, Andrew Wiggins and James Wiseman just is not going to be a feasible offer. It’s almost too steep to even counter.

Simmons is one of the best defenders in the NBA, finishing among the top three in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Still young, Simmons should be viewed as a foundational piece for any franchise.

Well, the Sixers still view him as one too.

With all the controversy comes outspoken Sixers center Joel Embiiid’s comments, let’s just say he said what you’d expect him to say. Here’s what Embiid had to say according to Bleacher Report’s Tim Bontemps.

Embiid, an MVP finalist, seemingly had a good relationship with Simmons. He hasn’t been able to get to him, as Simmons’ desire to leave is still in full force. However, if you thought the price was steep before, Embiid may only be dealing the young guard for Curry and Thompson.

Obviously, the Warriors would give far less, and the underlying point could be that Embiid wants to contend if Simmons is going to be traded. Nonetheless, it’s interesting seeing this being Embiid’s comment on the situation. There’s not much else to say, so Embiid just jokes about it.

In every joke is a small bit of truth, and as noted, that could be that if Simmons is traded, Embiid wants to continue to contend.

That likely means involving a third team as the Sixers would only get a young prospect and Wiggins, not a member of the Big 3.
