As crazy as it might sound, Jordan Poole may hold the key to the Golden State Warriors title aspirations for next season. After many questioned if he was even good enough for the league, Poole’s stellar finish to his sophomore campaign silenced his doubters.
The talent Poole behind the Golden State Warriors title aspirations may start to come to life this upcoming season as Dubs brace for Wiggins-less home games.
In the final weeks of the regular season, the Warriors stormed home with a 6-1 record to clinch the 8th seed.
During that span of games, Poole averaged 18.9 points, on shooting splits of 51-38-90, emphatic proof that he more than belongs at the game’s highest level and that, just maybe, he may just become something quite special.
With each passing day, we’re edging ever closer to seeing the championship core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green share a court for the first time since June 2019. After a two-season absence at the business end of proceedings, they’ll be hungrier than ever to ascend the illustrious mountain for the fourth time.
To do so, the Warriors may not need to add a fourth star, but heading into next season they’ll at least need one of their younger players to take a leap if they’re serious about contending. Amongst the talent pool, Poole is the player that can most impact winning, starting this October.
Poole was Golden State’s second-leading scorer through the final month of the last season. A stretch that suggested that perhaps he’s ready to become an integral part of this team for the long haul.
As the new season beckons, a continuation of Poole’s upward trend would have a material impact on the Warriors’ chances of winning the championship next season.
