The Golden State Warriors have an issue on their hands, and it’s not one they can do too much about. Andrew Wiggins hasn’t been and doesn’t plan on being vaccinated against Covid-19, the virus that ran rampant through the United States and continues to impact life.

While most cities don’t have a vaccine mandate, San Francisco and New York City do, impacting the players and fans for Golden State and New York teams. To participate in an indoor event, you need to be vaccinated.

LeBron James, the most followed player in the NBA, backed Draymond Green’s stance on the Warriors’ current Andrew Wiggins dilemma.

It’s a simple rule that must be followed. Oddly enough, the Warriors’ opponents don’t have to be. Regardless of the logic, the facts remain — if you play on the Nets, Knicks, or Warriors and don’t have the vaccine, you cannot play in home games.

Wiggins would miss 41 games if he doesn’t get the vaccine. The former No. 1 overall pick was the second-best scorer for the Warriors last season, and with Klay Thompson also set to return this season, there was hope that the Warriors could contend for a championship.

If Wiggins does in fact miss time, it could cause trouble. Players, for the most part, seemed disappointed he’d miss time but many ultimately did side with the option for Wiggins to do what he views as best for himself and his family.

Draymond Green made that sentiment, and LeBron James agreed with the take.

It seems many in the Warriors fanbase are split on the dilemma.

While vaccination still remains as the best fight against a virus that’s killed hundreds of thousands of Americans, the freedom to choose the shot or not remains a conversation still at the forefront of corporations and cities.

Green and James both opted on the side of freedom, but that sentiment isn’t widely loved. Regardless of opinion, the mandate still exists, and for now, it seems the Warriors are going to be without Wiggins for at least some time.
