Warriors potentially regretful move: Signing Otto Porter Jr.

The Golden State Warriors, especially if Andrew Wiggins misses all the team’s home games, are going to need players to step.

Otto Porter Jr. was one of the players that I highlighted who could do just that, but he’ll have to stay on the court. Adding an injury-prone player may not have been the best idea for the Warriors, and it may come back to bite them.

Porter Jr. was a terrific addition on paper. He’s a big forward that was a former top-five pick.

He’s a terrific sharpshooter, hitting over 40 percent of his attempts from deep. Those are attributes they couldn’t pass up on, but if Porter Jr. can’t stay on the court, it’ll be difficult to look back and justify adding him.

While playing in Chicago and Orlando, Porter didn’t have much reason to rush back onto the court, but playing in under 45 games throughout the two seasons is concerning enough to question management’s decision.

At the price they got him, it was a bargain and one that’d likely do again. But, that doesn’t mean they may not eventually regret going with a more ironman-like forward.
