It was neck-to-neck until the Golden State Warriors pulled away with a 15-point lead in the third quarter of their first preseason game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

While the general consensus was a team effort that saw them register a 121-107 win, there was enough that hinted at which direction the team was heading. Jordan Poole will have a good night sleeping as he cooked the Blazers.

The Golden State Warriors took down the Portland Trail Blazers to win their first preseason games. Here are three key takeaways.

He recorded 30 of the team’s 121 points and knocked down seven 3s coupled with 5 assists, and he displayed impressive defensive maturity. The only hope would be that he wouldn’t fizzle out over the course of the season.

Steve Kerr was absolutely candid. Per The Athletic (subscription required), Kerr praised the guard entering his third season in the league. Poole’s day out aside, there are still enough observations that are worth noting.

Otto Porter Jr. had 18 points and Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins tailed him with 13 each. Given their win and the subsequent performances by many of their new additions, let’s dive into what fans can reasonably take away from this initial showing.
