Warriors: 3 talking points from the first preseason game
The Warriors’ rookies will have to wait and earn their spots
The instruction for the rookies was simple: Wait your turn, earn your spot. Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody didn’t come on the court until late in the third quarter. By that time, the Warriors had peeled away and put the distance.
The veterans had enough time to get some mileage in and that might be the drill even against the Denver Nuggets.
Guard Avery Bradley and forwards Nemanja Bjelica, Otto Porter Jr. and Andre Iguodala all logged in between 14-18 minutes respectively and collectively amassed 34 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Kuminga and Moody played close to 11 and 9.5 minutes respectively. The former had five points to show for. The other rookie had two rebounds and as many assists.
With this, speculation is if Kerr will look to get his vets more game time when the regular season begins. If so that would mean James Wiseman will have to break his way into the starting five and also pip the players who slot as reserves.
