Warriors: 3 talking points from the first preseason game
Testing the Warriors’ bench depth
Barring the notable exception of Gary Payton II (recovering from a hernia) and Jordan Bell, eleven players hit the court in the Warriors outing against Portland. And they were substantial minutes too, with Moody playing the least (9) to Juan Toscano-Anderson playing a solid 22.
The Warriors were guilty of losing crucial games in the previous season simply because they had the fringe players get rotation minutes consistently starting with Brad Wanamaker and ending with Nico Mannion and Mychal Mulder.
The answer is obvious — Get the best squad out there to finish games and keep the pressure on till the buzzer.
And speaking of Mulder, Bradley will surely get the nod ahead, and as rusty as he looked in the first game, he will be expected to hit the ground up and running soon.
With all the trial-and-error, expect a solid starting five when they lock horns with the Los Angeles Lakers on October 19.
