Coming off of one of the greatest seasons of his career, averaging 32 points per game on 60.5 effective field goal percentage, Stephen Curry is poised to have another incredible season.

One of the main reasons Curry fell short of the title of MVP last season was due to the Warriors’ mediocre record, finishing the season at just 39-33. This is likely to change, due to the roster improvements and hopefully better health for the Warriors roster.

Warriors’ point guard Stephen Curry was an MVP Finalist last season, and this year, he should be able to run it back with similar success.

With the addition of players such as Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter Jr., Moses Moody, and eventually Klay Thompson, the spacing for Curry will improve, and with that, his assist numbers and shooting percentages should both see a noticeable jump as well.

The Warriors’ record should improve with these new additions, potentially landing the warriors a top-four seed in the competitive Western Conference. The Lakers are favored to win the conference with the Jazz and Suns also being quality opponents.

Additionally one of the most important aspects of an MVP race, the narrative, could also be in Curry’s favor, having only Luka Doncic as a competitor in that category, due to most other favorites being members of a ‘Superteam’ or having recently won within the last few years.

Curry has not won an MVP award since the 2015-16 NBA season and is not expected to have another All-NBA caliber player in Klay Thompson until December-January.

Currently, Curry’s MVP odds sit at only +750, only fifth in the league. If Curry can stay healthy and propel Golden State to a top seed in the west his MVP odds should drastically improve. If the Warriors get to 55 wins, it could be his to lose.

If Curry can be the premier threat for the Warriors and have another 30-point season, he could easily be a top threat. LeBron James, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and many others have been built into superteams, making them unlikely threats for MVP.

With all things considered, it’s entirely possible that Curry is the MVP favorite within the first few weeks of the NBA season and remains there till the finish.
