Golden State Warriors primed to lead franchise: Jordan Poole

It’s just preseason — I get it.

But, Jordan Poole dropping 30 points in 22 minutes to go with 5 assists and 5 rebounds does show major improvements for the young guard. He ended last season hot, and it’s looking like he’ll start this season that way.

Poole was one of the few players that improved from the 15-win 2019-2020 season to last season. He averaged 8.8 points per game as a rookie then 12 per game last season. Topping 22 points per 36 minutes, Poole thrived when he got on the court.

Now, his efficiency was still lacking a bit, shooting under 45 percent, but it was drastically improved from his rookie season. If he can take another step, which it’s looking likely that he can, Poole will cement himself as a cornerstone for this franchise.

At just 22, Poole should be ready for his Most Improved Player of the Year campaign this season. If he can near 20 points per game, especially possible with Klay Thompson likely out until 2022, he’d certainly be up for the award.
