Golden State Warriors’ player that’s impressed: Otto Porter Jr.

Throughout his career, Porter Jr. hasn’t lived up to the lofty expectations put on him. He was originally taken by the Washington Wizards as the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. Coming out of Georgetown, Porter Jr. has a rare mix of playmaking and athleticism.

He was never really able to establish himself as an elite scorer, but what he did do was become a terrific three-point threat, shooting over 40 percent from deep on his career. He’s in a rare company of players over 6-foot-7 that can shoot that well.

With that in mind, Porter Jr. has come to Golden State and should look to make a statement with a true title contender. So far this preseason, he’s looked terrific, averaging the third-most points per game at 14.3.

As noted, Porter Jr. has also shown his top-tier shooting, drilling 59 percent of his attempts from deep. A lineup of Porter Jr., Curry, Poole, Thompson and Green has just about everything offensively and could be what Kerr rolls with late in games.

As with Poole, it’ll be important Porter Jr. continues to shoot this well as the season commences in just under ten days.
