Golden State Warriors player ready to break out: Andrew Wiggins

Small forward Andrew Wiggins didn’t average the most points per game of his career last season, his first full year with the Warriors, but his instrumental role on a playoff-bound team was enough to showcase his development.

Now in his second year with a role, Wiggins should be entering with a few clear goals that could make it his best season yet. One of those should be to finally eclipse shooting 50 percent from the field. Wiggins should also aim to hit 40 percent from deep.

While it may not be considered a breakout season, if Wiggins can do that and still average around 18 points per game, it should be considered the best season of his career. With Poole and Curry as playmakers, the looks both in the half court and transition should be there.

Wiggins improved his shot selection last season, taking less difficult mid-range jumpers and either stepping behind the line or getting to the rim instead. His aggression will be paramount in both his individual and the Warriors team success.

Thankfully, with Wiggins now vaccinated, the Warriors will get the former top-overall pick for all 41 home games. He should play a major role for this team and could easily have a career-best year if he can slightly improve on his numbers from a season ago.
