Golden State Warriors player ready to break out: James Wiseman

James Wiseman had a tough first season.

Most of his struggles came on the defensive side of the ball, where he averaged 3.1 fouls per game. Wiseman, who was expected to be a high-level rim protector, averaged just 0.9 blocks per game. Now, there were some positives around Wiseman’s game.

While for a 7-footer he wasn’t overly efficient, at 19 years old, he did still hit over 50 percent of his shots. With that in mind, Wiseman did reportedly bulk up which should only bring more aggression to his game on both sides of the court.

The best part about Wiseman’s potential for this upcoming season is that he’ll get the volume minutes. While Kevon Looney is serving as the team’s backup, it should be Wiseman who gets the bulk of the time.

Wiseman averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

All those averages were per 21.4 minutes per game, so if he can see up to 32 per game, he may be able to near 18 and 10. If he can near that, Wiseman starts to get closer to the player the Warriors had hoped they took with a top-two pick.
