Golden State Warriors’ player likely to regress: Andrew Wiggins

Andrew Wiggins, in his first full season with the Golden State Warriors, had a career-high field goal and three-point percentage.

While it’s possible that he continues to top that, with the potential eruption of Jordan Poole, Wiggins may be looked at as an afterthought as a playmaker, especially if he returns to shooting difficult mid-range twos.

Wiggins hit 47.7 percent of his attempts last season, having never topped 46 percent prior to the season. His effective field goal percentage was never over .51. He was at .54 last season.

Wiggins was just a much-improved shooter, and a regression to the mean certainly seems possible. The 6-foot-7 forward will start at the three, and the Warriors will need him to be a competent scorer.

Throughout his career though, the former No. 1 overall pick hasn’t neared the levels he reached last season, making it likely that he doesn’t repeat it. The Warriors have a great system in place which Wiggins benefited from, so we’ll see if he can build on that.

Overall, I’m not hopeful he can.
