1. Jordan Poole
Given his form towards the end of last season, many identified Poole as a potential breakout candidate. Be honest though, did anyone see this level of improvement?
Poole averaged 21.8 points in just 22.7 minutes of action, shooting 50.6% from the floor and 36.4% from three-point range. It wasn’t just the numbers the third-year guard was putting up though, it was the way he was doing it. He showed exciting potential as a three-level scorer, mixing three-point shooting with some pull up mid-rangers, some crafty finishes around the rim, and some athletic dunks.
Poole also showed he’s more than just a scorer, averaging three assists per game. In particular, he displayed an ability to hit the roller when trapped off the pick-and-roll, also connecting with Bjelica in the second unit for what could be a dangerous pick-and-fade game.
Will the incredible run continue? There’s no doubt he’ll have plenty of opportunity having solidified the starting two-guard role whilst Klay Thompson continues to rehabilitate from injury.
