Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers: Winners

Stephen Curry

As many expected, the Warriors’ offense was surrounded by Curry. In the first half, Curry, as was typical last season, sat for the first half of the second quarter. In that span, the Warriors scored just nine points.

The second half changed most of that as Jordan Poole caught fire. However, despite his so-called “trash” performance, Curry ended with his first triple-double since 2016. He ended with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

It was a terrific, selfless performance from Curry.

Moses Moody

It didn’t seem like the Golden State Warriors were going to give either of their two lottery picks much time to start the season. As the rotation narrowed down to around ten players, Moody wasn’t expected to be one of them, but he was and scored his first NBA basket.

Moody ended the game with 6 minutes, 2 points, and 2 rebounds.

Jordan Poole

After going 0-for-4 from deep in the first half, Jordan Poole’s confidence was never shaken. He continued to shoot, and the ball eventually found the bottom of the net. The third-year Poole ended the game with 20 points and 4 threes.

Until Klay Thompson returns, Poole is the team’s clear-cut second-best scorer.

Nemanja Bjelica

I thought Bjelica looked slow defensively in the preseason, and while his defense was far from ideal, Steve Kerr was able to mask it, not often putting him on Anthony Davis. Bjelica was then able to rack up 15 points in 26 minutes, recording a team-best +20.

He was 6-for-7 from the field with a team-high 11 rebounds as well. It’s just an overall great showing as he consistently made the right play. Arguably sealing the game with his pass to Andrew Wiggins for a made three-pointer.
