Klay Thompson continues to fume over absence on NBA 75 team
Stephen Curry. Kevin Durant. No Klay Thompson.
The NBA commenced its 75th season this year. With that in mind, they opted to release a list of the top-75 players in league history. With any list of the top players, many were not happy; however, there weren’t many as upset as Golden State Warriors’ star guard Klay Thompson.
The Golden State Warriors were able to get Stephen Curry on the NBA 75 team, but Klay Thompson didn’t make it. Let’s just say he’s not happy about that.
Two-time MVP Stephen Curry made the list, as did former MVP and four-time scoring champion Kevin Durant. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, both three-time champions and top-75 players in their own right, were left off.
A five-time All-Star Thompson was not happy about being left off and decided to take his frustrations to Instagram, where he posted the following photo.
That was posted before the Warriors’ thrilling home opener against the Clippers. With Thompson on the sideline, it was clear that both he needs to be on the court and that the Warriors need him to be on the court. His shooting and playmaking are what will ultimately complete this team.
That said, after sleeping on it, Thompson still wasn’t less angered about being left on the list, continuing with this post.
Thompson is deservingly pissed. He’s one of the best shooters to ever step on the hardwood, and the Warriors wouldn’t have three titles without him. He’s been an instrumental part of one of the best dynasties in the history of the NBA.
Following the game, Curry commented on him being named to the list. At the tail end of his answer to the question, he mentions how Thompson and Green both have a resume worth being on there.
Thompson has averaged over 20 points per game in the past five straight seasons.
He’s hit over 40 percent of his threes in every season he’s played in the NBA. Thompson, one of the league’s best defensive guards as well, has left his stamp of excellence on the league since being drafted back 11th overall in 2011.
That said, one has to wonder if Thompson would be a top-75 player had he not sustained two season-ending injuries.
Thompson is slated to be back either at the end of this calendar year or early 2022. Nonetheless, he should come back with a “fuel” that will help ignite a Warriors team that’s capable of winning the NBA Finals this season.
