Why Wood is the perfect Golden State Warriors target: Versatility

Christian Wood can switch, and we know that’s something the Warriors love in their big men.

He’s big and lengthy, able to get into guards and defend well. He’s the difference-maker they need on both sides of the court. Wood stands 6-foot-10 and has a massive 7-foot-3 wingspan, able to dominate on both sides of the court.

Per 36 minutes, he averaged 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per game last season. While those aren’t overly impressive, Wood’s ascension to stardom is still in progress. In 41 games, he topped 21 points per game.

His offensive versatility is another factor that would make him an ideal target. Wood shot over 51 percent from the field and also knocked down 1.9 triples per game. He can do everything on the offensive end.

Wood has yet to play on a contending team, so there could be a concern with how his game would translate alongside stars. Wood ranked 17th in player efficient rating during the 2019-2020 season.

He’s an incredibly efficient player, and he should be able to easily slide in on an ultra-unselfish roster.
