Why Wood is the perfect Golden State Warriors target: Fit

There’s no denying that everything could work perfectly for the Golden State Warriors to add Christian Wood.

While the cost, especially sending him to the Houston Rockets, could be second-year James Wiseman and Andrew Wiggins, for a player that would elevate their small-ball lineups, it would be worth it.

Given Wood’s contract, Wiggins would have to be involved. Wiggins wouldn’t be enough, and the Rockets would likely require Jonathan Kuminga or Wiseman, with Wiseman being the preferred option for the Warriors.

Wood would immediately slide into the team’s starting center spot. When Klay Thompson returns, a lineup of Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Thompson, Draymond Green, and Wood is a legit title contender.

The question marks regarding Wiseman’s development and subsequent role in Steve Kerr‘s system should be strong enough for Wood’s quintessential fit to make the Dubs ponder a trade. It’s a combination of his length, shooting, and future that should interest Golden State.
