The Golden State Warriors have quickly become the team to beat in the Western Conference this season with three back-to-back wins. In addition to doing most things right on the hardwood, they have managed to win two of the road games they have played so far.

And it’s a no-brainer that they will look to extend the streak against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Chesapeake Energy Arena on Tuesday night. The Warriors head into the game as favorites against a Thunder side that’s still looking for their first win.

The condensed 2020-21 season was a forgettable one for the Golden State Warriors, and now they’re set to turn a new leaf.

The other side to have won the same number of road games this season are the new-look Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference boasting a 4-0 record. They destroyed the Toronto Raptors and the Detroit Pistons in their away scrimmages.

More than the player matchups, the Dubs will be eager to cement their status as a side that can dominate on the road.

Even though Stephen Curry has cemented his greatness one game at a time, Golden State failed to make the playoffs for the second time in a row.

Of the 33 games the Warriors lost, 22 of them were on the road. They have 25 wins to show for at the Chase Center and 12 away, but the losses that came at their opponents’ backyard were glaring and the infamous record was out there for the world to see.

The Warriors played the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks last season in their first two games, and both were on the road. Curry had 20 and 19 points, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 99-125 and 99-138 respectively.

However, the next couple of games saw a stark improvement as the team registered two away wins against the Bulls and the Pistons with Curry exploding for 36 and 31 points.

Coming back, they play a lengthy stretch of eight home games between October 28 and November 12 after OKC, which should give them the home advantage of and solidify their case with max wins.

This will be followed by four away games against the Charlotte Hornets, Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Pistons. The next long string of away games, five in total, starts on December 11 and ends on December 18.

That’s 13 games the team will play on the road over the next two months, each game key if they intend on repeating their glory days that has been missing since the 2017-18 edition.

This season is different. This is a season where the Warriors have shown they can bench thrice their weight while Curry’s offensive abilities have already generated whispers of another MVP run.

One of the factors that played a key role in the Warriors’ unbeaten run so far is the quality of depth they have. This isn’t a team that’s necessarily dependent on Curry to bail them out of dire straits. This time around, they’re equipped with enough in the arsenal to adjust to different conditions and matchups.

The challenge the team will face will be in staying focused especially with a long season ahead.
