In a game that threatened to undo all the Golden State Warriors’ good work over the first week of the season, they eventually overcame a resilient Thunder team while in Oklahoma City.

The win was set up on the back of a 33-17 third quarter, turning an 11-point deficit into a five-point lead before the Dubs prevailed with a 106-98 victory.

The Golden State Warriors strong second half showing prevented a loss to the winless Thunder, keeping them atop the West and undefeated through 4 games.

The Dubs were stunned early by a young, vibrant Thunder team seeking their first victory of the season.

They jumped out to a 12 point lead twice in the first half, and although the Warriors cut the margin on both occasions, their efforts seemed short-lived as OKC finished the half on a 9-2 run to take a 59-48 lead.

After a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander three-pointer gave the Thunder a 69-57 lead with 7:47 to go in the third, the Warriors finished the quarter on a 24-7 run.

The key moment came in the last minute through Otto Porter Jr. After knocking down a three to give the Warriors the lead, the 28 year-old made a block on the defensive end before nailing another three to put the Warriors up five heading into the fourth.

Although the Thunder hung around to make things interesting and even reduced the margin to four with just over five minutes remaining, it always seemed as if the Warriors had taken their best punch and had done enough to chalk up another win.
