Golden State Warriors vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: Two things we learned
1. Warriors fans need to live with Andrew Wiggins’ inconsistencies
If they don’t already, this game proved another example of why Warriors fans should live with who Wiggins is as a player. Throughout the second half, with the Warriors needing contributions outside Curry, the Canadian stepped up to the plate.
It wasn’t just the 13 second half points he scored, it was how he scored them. He showed an aggressiveness we know is buried in there somewhere, using his athleticism and natural physical gifts whilst also posting up and attacking smaller defenders.
Do we get that regularly from Wiggins. No, but that’s ok, he’s still a fine contributor as is.
2. Kerr trying to ease Curry’s workload
Steve Kerr noted after the game that a change in Curry’s minutes pattern was a concerted effort to reduce his workload. He played just 32 minutes against the Thunder, having previously logged 35, 38 and 36 minutes across the first three games.
Will we genuinely see it continue? Or was it more of Kerr trying to rest his star a little against lesser opposition? If the former is true, what will Curry make of it as he seeks a third NBA MVP?
