Golden State Warriors: What makes Iggy special

His length and athleticism were defensive anchor during his last stint. His IQ was an irreplaceable part of the offensive dynamics, reading the opposing defense with mastery and making the game easier for everybody.

A perfect fit with the Warriors culture, which he helped to develop. The Warriors mastered a style of play with unpredictable ball movement, spacing, and unselfishness, which is how Iguodala understands and sees basketball as a sport. Above everything, this is an intellectual fit.

Andre’s productiveness off the bench is even more reliable than most people could imagine before the season started. In this very small sample, he’s scoring efficiently from the floor, with an unsustainable career-best of 58% in 4 attempts.

However, the impact of Iguodala is undoubtedly in the most unspoken aspects of the game. In 66 minutes of basketball, he committed a single turnover and no more than three personal fouls.

The inventiveness and wisdom translate into an advanced stat anomaly of 151 offensive rating, which is crazy. But not for Andre. It makes sense for him even more so when we factor in how flawlessly he fits with the best shooter in basketball.
