Jordan Poole needs to slow down

The Jordan Poole phenomenon has been a wild one. It is a roller coaster of highlight bombs from 30-feet out and audacious shot attempts that drive fans wild (in a bad way). Poole, like the fans who were ready to crown him as the next big thing, needs to slow down.

There is nothing wrong with being excited about JP. After all, he has not lost any of the potentials that made him so exciting in the first place. He is just in a rut — the type of rut we have seen him in before. Only this time, it feels fixable.

Poole is 7-of-31 from the 3-point  line so far this season. What’s more, he has 18 turnovers and just 20 total assists. Aside from his fourth quarter flurry on opening night, Poole has not been very good.

And yet, everyone in the gym is aware that Poole is a talented young player. He just needs the game to slow down for him. Steve Kerr, Draymond Green and Stephen Curry have been urging Poole to take a step back (figuratively, not literally as he has been jacking up plenty of step-back shots) and stop pressing so hard each game.
