Golden State Warriors’ player that’s impressed: Kevon Looney

The Golden State Warriors have not had James Wiseman at all this season.

The second-year center who supposedly bulk up during the offseason was the hopeful heir to the throne. While he hasn’t shown that superstar upside, he may not be a shoo-in for a starting position once healthy.

Former first-round pick Kevon Looney has picked his game up and hasn’t played outside of his means. He’s averaging 6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. As the only true center on the Warriors roster, Looney has given the Golden State great minutes.

He’s shooting 57 percent from the field and also bringing in two offensive rebounds, a couple of numbers that shouldn’t go unnoticed. There’s not much special about the way that Looney plays, but having a player that can fully the role he’s told to do is nice.

Coming off a season in which he averaged just 4.1 points per game and largely underperformed, having Looney continue to play well has been a nice blessing in disguise for the Golden State Warriors.
