Golden State Warriors’ player that’s impressed: Damion Lee

The problem with Damion Lee when he first came into the league wasn’t his size or shooting but his defense. Standing 6-foot-5, he’s far from the roster’s best defender, but he’s been competent, to say the least.

It really hasn’t mattered as his offensive play has been electric. Lee isn’t afraid of shooting, and he’s been red hot to start the season. Lee thrived for the Warriors in their 15-win season, one in which Klay Thompson and Curry combined to play 5 games.

He then struggled to find his footing last season as it was the Curry show more often than not. This year, while Curry still dominates, Lee is the go-to option for the second unit. He’s averaging a career-high 14.2 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the three.

Head coach Steve Kerr has so much faith in Lee that he called a game-winning play for him. That big-time to get a shot at a game-winner with Curry on the court. He’s shooting well, and he’s playing confidently.

Lee is certainly a major reason why the Warriors have had early-season success.
