Golden State Warriors player unlikely to crack rotation: Moses Moody

Moses Moody has played some this season, but the No. 14 overall pick is unlikely to see consistent minutes as rookie. It should actually be expected that the team, while healthy, keeps him with the franchise’s G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Having thrived during summer league and throughout the preseason, Moody has potential. At 6-foot-5 with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, he has all the intangibles that’ll help him take his game to the next level.

Moody did manage over 20 minutes against the Thunder but put in just 6 points and shot 1-for-5 from deep. He also had a bucket in his 5 minutes during the season opener. The ceiling as a defender is there.

That’s why the Warriors drafted him with their second lottery pick. Knowing that they’re playing with their long-term future in mind, Golden State wanted to manage a way to compete yet not trade those picks.

They’ve done that, and now Moody can watch and learn without many expectations placed on him quite yet.
