Golden State Warriors player set to shatter expectations: Damion Lee

The Golden State Warriors inserted Jordan Poole into the starting lineup without Kelly Oubre Jr. on the roster anymore. Oubre Jr. is in Charlotte, and the Warriors needed a player in the second unit to take Poole’s spot as the primary scoring threat.

Lee has done just that, and he’s been terrific through the team’s first six games. Lee, who had the best season of his career during the 15-win campaign which Curry and Thompson combined for 5 games played, struggled last season.

While Lee was expected to have a spot on the roster, what he’s been doing at the level he’s been doing it at is a surprise.

Lee is averaging 14.2 points per game, shooting a career-high and borderline unsustainable 46 percent from deep. Lee’s been a huge factor, and one of the highest compliments he could get was the truth of Steve Kerr.

That was on display as Lee was able to take a potential game-winning shot, although he missed. Curry was on the court, and they trusted Lee. He’s been that good, and he could realistically be the difference between a top-six seed or another play-in tournament berth.
