Golden State Warriors need to dominate the boards

The Warriors’ strong start to the season has been aided by their ability to rebound the ball effectively. Golden State is sixth in the league in rebounding and Charlotte ranks among the bottom ten teams in the league.

Golden State boasts a roster of strong rebounders with Draymond Green, Steph Curry, Nemanja Bjelica, Andre Iguodala and Kevon Looney all averaging over five rebounds per game, which is precisely a third of the roster. If those five continue to thrive on the backboard the Warriors will be able to generate a lot of opportunities for second-chance points.

This also helps the Dubs get out on the run. Limiting offensive rebounds means more opportunities for outlet passes to get Curry and the rest of the team moving in transition. This could mean easy buckets for Andrew Wiggins and the Dubs’ slashers.

Even more importantly, however, is keeping the Hornets out of transition. They lead the league in transition points at 25.9 per game. LaMelo Ball is a wizard in the open court and Charlotte has plenty of athletic wings to run to the rim.
