Golden State Warriors star trade target: Christian Wood

While no one was saying that Rockets center Christian Wood’s ascension into stardom last season was not real and that he still needed to prove himself, seeing him increase his impact for a second consecutive season has been impressive.

Wood is the key centerpiece for a Houston Rockets, team that will be led into the future by rookie Jalen Green.

Wood is 26 and is on pace to average the first double-double of his career. Wood is currently averaging 20.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. He’s also hitting 2.3 triples per game and shooting those at a 39 percent clip.

He’s notching a career-high in blocks, assists, and rebounds through 7 games. Now, it is a small sample size, but his ability to defend guards and shoot from deep is something the Warriors would crave from their center, and it’s something they don’t currently have.

Wood’s cost is something not known, and it could be Wiseman, Wiggins and picks, especially if he continues to thrive. He’s not quite as proven as a player like Ben Simmons, so if Wiseman and a few picks can push the needle, I think the Dubs need to consider making the deal.
