Game Report: Warriors annihilate Pelicans, move to 7-1
Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans: Two Key Stats
1. Andre Iguodala turning back the clock
Warriors fans couldn’t be happier with the re-integration of Andre Iguodala into a Warriors uniform. In fact, it’s been a pleasant surprise to see how well the 37 year-old has played so far this season.
Against the Pelicans, Iguodala dished out ten assists in just over 17 minutes of action.
He was the first Warrior to record double-digit dimes off the bench since he himself did it back in 2017. He’s now averaging more rebounds and assists than points this season, still demonstrating he can be an important factor in his 18th NBA season.
2. Warriors boost three-point shooting
The Warriors took 50 three-point attempts against the Pelicans, much more like the team we saw in preseason. They’ve now moved up to third in three-point attempts this season, their 42 per game sitting just below the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz.
More crucially, they connected on 20 of their 50 attempts (40%), also increasing their season percentage to third league-wide at 38.4%.
Scarily, Curry is shooting just 37.5% from downtown on the season, a mark you’d expect to rise to at least 40% by season’s end. Add in the return of another all time shooter in Klay Thompson, and the Warriors should be eyeing the title as best three-point shooting team in the league.
