Golden State Warriors have the top-ranked defense

Defense wins championships. We have all heard the saying but until someone wins a title without playing defense, we are going to keep saying it.

The Golden State Warriors know all too well how important it is to play both ends of the floor. Despite being widely credited for the 3-point revolution, the Dubs have never truly gotten their flowers for revamping NBA defense.

It was Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala who set the precedent for the switch-everything trend that has taken the league by storm. The Warriors take pride in being a hard-nosed defensive team and they are finally back at the top of the league in this regard.

With a Defensive Rating of 96.0, the Warriors are the top-ranked defense by a wide margin. In fact, this would be the best rating of any team since the 2003-04 San Antonio Spurs.

There are a few factors benefitting the Dubs here. Firstly, the league, in general, is suffering from a scoring drought (more on that later). What’s more, Golden State has played some of the worst teams in the NBA to start the season.

Nevertheless, the Warriors are bringing grit and toughness to the defensive end. This is no fluke and there is no doubt Golden State is playing the best defense in the league.
