Golden State Warriors are 9th in offense

The Golden State Warriors currently have the ninth-best Offensive Rating in the NBA at 109.2. While this is respectable — the Dubs can do better, and they know it.

Stephen Curry has hardly even scratched the surface of his full powers this season. He is averaging 25.8 points on 37.5 percent shooting from the 3-point line. This would be a career-best season for most, but it is the second-worst shooting season of his career (the worst was in 2019-20 when he played just five games).

Similarly, Jordan Poole has spent most of the season ice-cold from deep. His preseason fire was snuffed out almost immediately but has juiced his 3-point accuracy up to 35.5 percent after an explosive game against Charlotte.

How are the Warriors a top-10 offense with two of their best scorers playing below expectations? Well, Strength in Numbers, of course.

The Dubs lead the entire league in assists and are shooting the third-best 3-point percentage (38.4 percent) in a season where the NBA average has plummeted to its lowest in decades. Yes, whether it be the new ball or a change in the rules, players are missing 3-pointers this season.

That is why the emergence of someone like Damion Lee has been huge for Golden State. Lee has hit 16-of-33 deep attempts. Meanwhile, Nemanja Bjelica, Gary Payton II, Andrew Wiggins and even Draymond Green have been making their open 3-pointers.

For this reason, as well as frequent ball-movement from high-IQ players, the Warriors have been an elite offensive team even with their two best scorers struggling at times.
