3 potential buyout targets the Golden State Warriors should already be eyeing
Potential buyout target Warriors should eye: Garrett Temple
The New Orleans Pelicans have been extremely banged up to start the season, and it has not done their record any justice. They’ve been struggling to find any consistent play in their backcourt.
With a return for Zion Williamson still unknown, the Pelicans may not have their superstar back for quite a while. Brandon Ingram should return soon, but it likely won’t be enough to help much. The Pelicans were 1-9 coming into Monday.
With their struggles, the Pelicans may part ways with forward Garrett Temple. The 35-year-old is averaging 5.5 points per game, shooting over 31 percent from deep. He’s only played in 8 games, starting 2 of them.
Temple wouldn’t be a franchise-changing addition, but he could provide some depth and experience at the two. Behind Damion Lee, the Dubs have rookie Moses Moody. Temple could hop in and be a solid option at either forward or guard position.
The 6-foot-5 11-year veteran is a career 34.6 percent three-point shooter. His defense and shooting is why he’s still in the NBA and likely why he’ll also end up on a contender later this season.
