After ten games, it’s time to take a step back and look at where the team is. While many thought they’d be lucky to be sitting at .500, the Warriors have shattered early-season expectations of them.
They’re currently the best team in the NBA by record. It’s not even that close as even the Jazz have three losses. The Dubs have lost just one game, to the Memphis Grizzlies, and even that went into overtime, a game Golden State really should’ve won.
The Golden State Warriors are the only team in the NBA without three losses. As a matter of fact, they have just one loss in their first ten games.
It’s been a stint of play that Warriors fans shouldn’t take for granted.
If you look around the league, many teams that much was expected from haven’t started the season out hot. Look at the Los Angeles Lakers, who the Dubs beat to open up the season. They have title aspirations yet already have six losses.
While the season is still young, the Warriors have been outstanding. They’re doing it on the defensive end too. They have the league’s best defensive rating and have been the best third-quarter team in the NBA, throttling teams like the Hornets and Hawks following the halftime intermission.
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned from this resurgence, it’s that this team is built on culture. They flawlessly added Otto Porter Jr. and Andre Iguodala into the rotation. Both quality defenders, they signed exactly who would fit their mold for success.
It’s about the signings, draft picks, and integration for Golden State.
They’ve successfully created one of the best second units in the NBA. Without Klay Thompson, they’re still the best team in the NBA. If he can come back at even 80 percent and give that additional sharpshooter, the Dubs are going to be lethal.
That said, the Dubs are obviously the top in the Western Conference. Coming into Tuesday, there were three teams in the West with three losses and four in the East, making Golden State easily the top-ranked team in the NBA.
