Golden State Warriors v Charlotte Hornets: Two Key Stats

1. Fourth quarter struggles

In the Warriors two losses so far this season, they’ve combined for 36 points in 29 minutes of action (two fourth quarters plus an overtime). There’s still a lingering question mark remaining, who do they turn to in tight ball games if Curry doesn’t have it going down the stretch?

It’s not a question they have to answer when they’re consistently beating teams by double digits, but they probably won’t be afforded that luxury come playoff time. They may be hoping Klay Thompson alleviates some of those issues, but either way Steve Kerr needs to find a way to get better looks when it matters most.

2. Warriors lose at the three-point line

The Warriors won the assist count (30-23), out-rebounded the Hornets (49-39) and shot over double the free throws (25-12). The cliché saying that ‘it’s a make or miss league’ was never more evident than in this game.

The Warriors loss simply came down to missing shots. They shot 42.2% from the field, including just 9-39 from deep (23.1%). On the other hand, Charlotte shot 47.7% from the field and 14-36 from deep (38.9%).
