Golden State Warriors player too dependent on three: Jordan Poole
Jordan Poole has been absolutely critical for the Warriors throughout their 11-2 start to the season.
He’s transcended into a real star-caliber player for Kerr’s offense, but he’s still a little too inconsistent. Poole shot 4-for-12 from the field and 2-for-8 from deep against Charlotte. The three-ball wasn’t going for the third-year guard, and it’s a situation he’s been in before.
Poole’s averaging 10 three-point attempts per 36 minutes. When he’s hitting, it’s almost impossible to stop Golden State. When Poole hits five or more threes, the Warriors have won by an average of more than 30 (2 games).
However, when he’s off from three (games in which he hasn’t hit at least two), Poole struggles to score, averaging just over ten points per game but far under his 17.5 per game average.
With over a 54% three-point attempt rate, Poole is hoisting up threes but connecting at a worse rate than a season ago. Taking out one game against Houston in which he shot nine, Poole would have just 16 free throws on the season.
Poole needs to be more aggressive with his handle, which has noticeably improved as well in order to consistently be a force when his three-point jumper isn’t falling.
