Why Golden State Warriors are hot: Elite shooting

While defense may help win games, you come out on top more often than not because you can score at a high rate. Well, the Warriors are just so lucky that they’ve been able to do both through the first sixth of the season.

Behind Curry, who should be considered the early-season MVP favorite, the Warriors are shooting at a 59 percent true shooting percentage, a factor that takes into consideration that 3s are worth more than 2s and free throws as well.

The Warriors have the highest effective field goal rate and the third-highest offensive rating. This team shares the ball better than any other team in the league, averaging the most assists per game in the NBA by 1.6 (Spurs are second).

That and their quick-moving offense is how they’ve been able to sustain such a high rate of offensive success. They get the ball to their shooters and they move without the ball in a deliberate manner.

While knocking down shots is huge, so is making sure your players are comfortable with their roles. We don’t see Kevon Looney and Green hoisting up triple after triple, but they’re pivotal in getting Poole and Curry open looks.

It’s about doing your role in an efficient manner and everyone on the team knows that which has resulted in the above league-best numbers.
