Golden State Warriors player earning more minutes: Jonathan Kuminga

The Golden State Warriors drafted Jonathan Kuminga No. 7 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft. It was assumed that he wasn’t going to be getting many minutes, especially as Kerr noted that the team was aiming for wins and not development.

Kuminga missed the early part of the season, but since he’s been given some time, he’s started to produce. His energy is contagious for the rest of the team, and they thrive around his hustle and playmaking.

Kuminga is averaging 3.3 points per game in just nine games, but he’s averaging under a quarter per game. In spotty minutes, he’s putting up some numbers. Per 36 minutes, Kuminga is averaging 14.4 points per game. The 6-foot-8 rookie is shooting 45 percent from the field.

He’s done everything coach Kerr has wanted him to do, and he’s starting to earn more minutes given his impact while on the court. It doesn’t necessarily show up in the numbers, but he’s making the most of what he’s given.
