3 Golden State Warriors who have played surprisingly well this season
Golden State Warriors player who has excelled: Andrew Wiggins
Similar to Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins has taken his game to the next level.
However, unlike Poole, Wiggins isn’t elevating his play by scoring at career-high levels. Wiggins isn’t scoring nearly as much as he did in Minnesota, but he’s been the Warriors second-best option. It’s Wiggins consistency that’s been really surprising.
The 26-year-old former No. 1 overall pick, Wiggins set career highs in shooting from both inside the arc and beyond the arc, respectively hitting 48% and 38%. This season, while his three-point shooting isn’t quite there, he’s hitting 49% of his shots from the field.
Wiggins is averaging 19.1 points per game and has an effective field goal percentage over .55 for the first time in his career.
He’s starting to truly mesh with Curry and this Warriors culture. He’s had several game-changing performance where, had he turned back the clock, the Warriors may have lost. The Warriors are 13-2, and Wiggins performances are a big reason why they’re succeeding.
Overall, Poole, Wiggins and Looney have seriously impressed fans, and the Warriors dominance should continue if they can keep it up.
