Golden State Warriors can target Jerami Grant

Jerami Grant is the most talented player the Golden State Warriors should be considering. But, is he skilled enough to cough up someone like James Wiseman?

Cost: High

There is no way around it. No buyout or third party will help the Warriors trade for Grant at a lower price. If they want Grant, they’ll have to pay up.

Grant is on a $20 million a year contract and one of the brightest forwards in the NBA. Detroit will not give him up for anything less than a valuable young asset in return. What’s more, the Dubs can be sure they will not be the only team interested in Grant.

Benefit: Medium-High

A three-level scorer and elite perimeter defender, Grant is going. tobe an instant contributor to whoever acquires him at the deadline. Grant averaged a career-high 22.3 points last season and is still scoring a strong 19.0 per game.

Grant’s versatility on both sides of the floor makes him an ideal piece to add to the Warriors’ collection. They’d be safe to assume Grant can help them quicker than Jonathan Kuminga or James Wiseman ever could — but his salary would cause the Dubs to include far too many assets to make this deal work.

Verdict: Not worth it
