“THOMPSON! THOMPSON! THOMPSON!” the Golden State Warriors crowd changed frenetically as Klay Thompson remained on the bench after the Dubs notched their sixth straight win.

Overcome with emotion, Thompson sat on the bench long after the rest of his team left for the tunnel. A towel over his head, and a storm brewing on the horizon. Klay is prepping for a dramatic return that is going to flip the NBA upside down.

It has been six years since Klay broke out as an All-Star in the 2014-15 NBA season and it has been nearly three since he competed alongside Stephen Curry and the Warriors. The road back from consecutive season-ending injuries has been a grueling experience that has only refined Thompson’s focus. He, like everyone else in the Bay, wants one thing: revenge.

Klay Thompson is ramping up for his highly anticipated return to basketball and the Golden State Warriors have set the stage beautifully.

While Curry and Draymond Green did not personally endure the struggle of rehabbing a torn ACL and Achilles in back-to-back years, the two were there for their fallen brother during all of the highs and lows and had their own battles to fight on the court in his absence.

Together, Curry and Green have accepted the challenge of reigning in a new generation of Dubs’ talent. Strength In Numbers 2.0 is hitting its full stride now but it would not exist without the persistence of the two champions who have led the way.

Likewise, Thompson has worked his way back from the depths of injury not once but twice. And, he is just a few weeks away from being cleared to play again. Waiting for him at the end of the tunnel will be the two teammates he won multiple championships with, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, who have done a terrific job of setting the stage for Klay’s return.

Klay will be joining a Warriors team that is 17-2 with the best record in the NBA. The rise of names like Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, two players Klay has never shared the court with, have allowed him to take his time in recovery and those two will undoubtedly help ease Thompson back into the fray.

Curry is in the midst of rattling off another MVP run and soon — his partner in crime will be ready to suit up. All that is left to do is to go out and show everyone what’s next for the Splash Brothers because their story is far from over.
