Golden State Warriors player impacted by Thompson’s return: Jordan Poole

When Klay Thompson returns, the Warriors are going to have a plethora of talented guards. They’ll have a few difficult decisions, and one of them will likely be sending third-year guard Jordan Poole to the bench.

It would be relatively shocking to see Poole stay in the starting lineup and, consequently, Andrew Wiggins or James Wiseman/Kevon Looney sent to the bench.

Even when Andre Iguodala played start-level minutes in small-ball lineups, it was still a big that started at center, which means it’ll more than likely be Poole or Wiggins relegated. If that’s the case, I fully expected Poole.

Poole is making a case to stay a starter though. His numbers this year, as compared to just two years ago, show incredible improvements across the board. The former first-round pick is topping 18 points per game.

He’s doing that on over 45% shooting which was a concern for the 6-foot-4 guard earlier on in his career. That said, Poole has done everything to earn his starting role, but the return of a player like Thompson may make anything done not enough.
