Golden State Warriors trade target: T.J. McConnell

The Indiana Pacers have been a team that just hasn’t lived up to expectations so far this season. That said, in the near future, they should look to trade or release their veterans, and McConnell certainly won’t be a player released.

McConnell would thrive as the Warriors’ backup point guard, and I couldn’t think of a better option to have to play alongside Jordan Poole in the second unit upon Thompson’s return. His strength lies in his defensive tenacity and terrific instincts.

McConnell is averaging 8.4 points and 4.6 assists per game to go with a steal per game. He’s playing just over two quarters per game and also shooting over 50% from the field.

The 6-foot-1 29-year-old point guard racked up 1.9 steals per game and has only gone under one per game when he was averaging just a quarter and a half. He’s efficient offensively and a stud defensively.

The Pacers aren’t in contention right now, and getting some value for McConnell, especially with Chris Duarte on the bench, would make sense. It’s another win-win scenario, but it’s one the Warriors would have to pursue instead of waiting for a potential buyout.
